Our school's music group competed in the Waltons Music Competition which is ran by the Waltons Music school in Dublin and is supported by RTÉ Lyric Fm. This competition involved creating and performing pieces or songs that responded to the theme 'The Key of Life'. Primary schools from around the country participate in this competition and this year there was a huge number of entries. Six schools are chosen to progress to the Final while very highly commended, highly commended and commended are awarded to the other schools.
This was our first year to compete in the competition and even though we didn't progress to the final this year, we were awarded very highly commended which means that we were in the top 13 schools in the country. In an email to our school, the adjudicators said - "The video from Tooreen N.S was high quality and the piece was an inclusive and imaginative response to the theme, with plenty of student input evidenced throughout. The original rap added a great dimension, and overall it was a very dynamic, thoughtful and lively presentation."
This is a massive achievement for our music group and we are very proud of our students for performing so brilliantly in this competition. We put a huge amount of work into our video and well done to the children for their beautiful music, singing, dancing and gymnastics.
