In maths the Junior and Senior Infants have been learning about capacity. We did lots of investigations using water and sand. The children experienced filling and emptying a variety of containers. We then investigated measuring how much of a substance certain containers would hold. We selected the most appropriate measuring container e.g. a jug to fill a basin or a spoon to fill an egg cup. Then we counted how many spoon fulls or jug fulls were needed to fill the egg cup or the basin. We had to remember to make sure the measuring container was full each time we counted it to make sure it was a fair measurement. We had great fun.
